Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) is a hiring model in which an organisation transfers some or all of its recruitment activities to an external recruitment provider. Instead of simply receiving candidate profiles for individual vacancies, an RPO provider can take responsibility for managing defined parts of the recruitment function, from understanding hiring requirements and sourcing candidates to screening, interview coordination and other recruitment activities. The key difference is the level of responsibility. A conventional recruitment agency may be engaged to fill particular vacancies, while an RPO provider operates as an extension of the organisation's recruitment function and manages an agreed part of the overall hiring process.
